Reunion with a Cause cancer walk - Genesys Health System | Grand Blanc, MI

The Genesys Health Foundation will sponsor the fourth annual "Reunion with a Cause," an event organized to raise funds for Genesys cancer patients. The walk and celebration will take place Friday, Aug. 8, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., at the Holly High School track, located at 6161 E. Holly Road. Walkers are encouraged to collect donations, which go directly to cancer patients and programs in the community.

Last year's "Reunion with a Cause" yielded more than $53,000 – a record breaking year! Proceeds were used to help pay for transportation to and from cancer treatments, medication, medical equipment such as bath benches, rental equipment such as wheelchairs, private pay aides, and other special needs not covered by health insurance.

The evening begins with cancer survivors walking the first lap on the Holly High School track. Family members, friends and other supporters celebrate this event with their loved one – an event that "symbolizes hope for those afflicted with cancer," notes Nick Evans, vice president of the Genesys Health Foundation. "It's a fun-filled night to celebrate and commemorate those lives touched by cancer, and raise funds to support these individuals and programs to help them and their family members. Everyone in the community is invited to show their support by attending this event."

In addition to the walk, "Reunion with a Cause" includes family activities, a cancer survivor celebration and candle lighting ceremony, music and
refreshments.

Mark Taylor, Genesys President and CEO, has declared Friday, Aug. 8, Reunion with a Cause Day. Employees can purchase a Reunion t-shirt and wear it to work that day. Luminaries and the t-shirts will me on sale Wednesday, Aug. 6 and Aug. 7, outside the Health Park cafeteria.
