Nurses' contract ratified at Genesys

(GRAND BLANC, MI) The tentative agreement between Genesys Regional Medical Center and the registered nurses represented by Teamsters Local 332 was ratified tonight by a majority vote.

"We once again want to express our appreciation to both bargaining teams for working diligently to reach this mutually-beneficial agreement," says Tammy Saunaitis, system vice president of Human Resources at Genesys.

"A critical success factor at Genesys is to create relationships with organized labor that foster operational excellence. This new contract is another significant step toward achieving that, and is indicative of the collaborative relationships with organized labor that we are striving for at Genesys," Saunaitis continues. "We're looking forward to a renewed focus on teamwork to continue providing the region's best possible quality care."

In addition to this newly ratified four year agreement that represents approximately 1,200 registered nurses, Genesys successfully reached multi-year agreements with 992 AFSCME bargaining unit employees in July 2007; 50 Teamsters Genesys Home Health & Hospice Care Care bargaining unit employees in April 2007; and 388 Teamsters technical bargaining unit employees in February 2006.
